UMBRA
The surface that changes its answer.
A clean-sheet Reinventy programme for adaptive electromagnetic surfaces, governed from candidate architecture to physical coupon validation.
CONCEPT-STAGE R&D · PHYSICAL COUPON VALIDATION IS THE NEXT GATE

01 · The leap
From passive surface to governed response.
Most electromagnetic materials are designed for one fixed response, one narrow operating window or one non-structural task. UMBRA explores a harder proposition: a material architecture that can be tuned, can manage more than one interaction domain and can remain useful as part of an engineered surface.
02 · One surface, three ambitions
Adaptive by design.
UMBRA's novelty path is not one isolated property. It is the disciplined integration of behaviours that are usually treated separately.
Adapt
Pursue a response that can be switched or tuned to changing electromagnetic conditions instead of remaining permanently fixed.
Integrate
Co-design electromagnetic management with adjacent surface requirements, rather than adding disconnected coatings after the structure is complete.
Endure
Explore architectures intended to retain useful function in demanding thermal and structural environments.
03 · Born inside Alchemi
Thirty years of experience sharpen the problem. Clean evidence builds the answer.
Reinventy's accumulated knowledge helps Alchemi recognise failure modes, manufacturability constraints and useful trade spaces earlier. The UMBRA programme itself advances through declared sources, versioned models and newly generated physical evidence. Experience and provenance reinforce each other without being confused.
04 · Civil pathways first
A broad industrial surface problem.
The public development path leads with open civil uses that can generate evidence and commercial traction while more sensitive variants remain behind classification and export review.
RF-quiet infrastructure
Enclosures and spaces designed to manage interference around dense electronic systems.
Advanced connectivity
Surfaces for complex communication environments where selective interaction matters.
Test & measurement
Configurable environments for anechoic, EMC and electromagnetic characterisation workflows.
Sensor coexistence
Material strategies that reduce unwanted interaction among nearby sensing systems.
05 · Evidence path
The next milestone is physical.
UMBRA only advances when the programme closes its evidence gaps in order. A generated architecture is the beginning of the work, not the end.
Programme definition
Target behaviours, trade-offs and public evidence boundary are declared.
Physical coupons
Produce traceable specimens and characterise real electromagnetic and mechanical response.
Next gateBlind validation
Test predictions against independent specimens outside the calibration set.
Demonstrator
Transfer the validated behaviour to a bounded civil component and qualification path.
Build the evidence
A partner for the first physical UMBRA campaign.
Reinventy is interested in civil test, characterisation, manufacturing and industrial-use partners able to help turn a governed target into independently reviewable evidence.
